Twitter:   / ironclawftw   Game release year: 1998 I'm not much into shooters, but this was one was fun. There's some slowdowns sometimes because I run it on a stock A1200, which is fine, but I'm meant to shoot all the enemies, which I sometimes don't, as I amuse myself by avoiding them, which builds up in enemies, thus slowdowns. Here's a good example: 55:44. As I noticed this, I could of course easily instead shoot them to prevent it, but it's fun with slowdowns, and makes it a bit easier :) There's "AMIGA" written on the back of her shirt here: 26:43, and the classic "Amiga boing ball" (I'm guessing) here: 01:00:27. Some bosses were really slow to kill. Maybe there's a better way that I didn't know of? I think I maybe could have shot chapter 3's boss from behind as well. Would have been easier to kill him with non-spread bullets, as I kept hitting the spinning thingies when I didn't want to. They did a good job with the sound, not messing up the music when sound effects are played (like a lot of games do, bleh). Like Aladdin, eeeew on that one. Constantly having the lead instruments of the tunes interrupted by sound effects. Some games just use 2-3 channels for the music instead, and the 4th for sound. Anyway, this game was quality in gfx, sfx, music and coding, IMO. --------------------- Some notes from 'Hall of Light': [1] Game/level design by Lobsang Alvites Szaler (Mr.Byte/TEG). "HiScore Mixer" utility by Kanguru/TEG and extra enemy sprites by Peter Oorthuis (Anim8tor). [2] GUNBEE F-99 is a clone of Konami's anime vertical shooter DETANA!! TWINBEE (aka BELLS & WHISTLES). Originally it saw a shareware release as AMIBEE in Oct 1997. AMIBEE V1.22 (shareware demo) is available on Aminet (dir: game/shoot/amibee.lha). [3] Soon after the shareware release of AMIBEE, APC&TCP and Crystal Software (Holland) sent expressions of interest for the commercial publication of the game to main coder Mr.Byte/TEG. He chose to sign with APC&TCP in Feb 1998 and enlisted the help of several support coders over the months that followed. The commercial version GUNBEE-F99 featured 3 additional levels and many graphical, aural and gameplay enhancements over the shareware version when released in Oct 1998 [Source: TEG game diary].
