Why Do We Cry? #shorts Whether you are chopping an onion or got a heartbreak, a stream of tears is obvious. But why? Before going to why let's understand how the formation of tears occurs. Lacrymal glands, which are also known as tear glands, are present in your eyes, this is where tears get formed. Actually, there are 3 types of tears. These glands keep secreting some sort of liquid to maintain a tear film over the outer surface of our eyes in order to protect them. These tears are called basal tears. Whereas, the tears that get secreted when some foreign particles enter our eyes are called reflex tears because these tears are responsible for removing those unwanted particles from our eyes. If we talk about emotional tears, human is the only specie that can cry on getting emotional. According to research reports, there are some theories behind crying, for instance - people cry when they don't find any words to express their feeling verbally, and the same case can be observed in kids as well. From the biological point of view, emotional tears consist of more protein like ACTH and stress hormones like cortisol in comparison with basal and reflex tears. This is why your body feels relaxed and calm after crying. Are you getting the point? Not only you produce tears all the time but you also secret almost 55 to 110 liters of tears in a year.
