I'd gotten pretty far in while playing on the PC version but now with the version on the Switch I had to set things into overdrive. In general my weapon strategy has been to use a weapon that does caustic damage to weaken things and then punch hard with a nuke or a flurry of missiles. There were a couple spots in the run where things got a little intense, especially on the special levels, but managed to win the day. A great feeling to finally beat it!
