[PS4] Darius Cozmic Collection - Darius Gaiden - ALL Clear 12,19 Million (No-Miss, No-Bomb, ACEHLQV)
Turn on captions for extra comments. Darius Gaiden first came out in arcades in 1994 and was made by Taito. Darius is one of the first classic shmup series, dating all the way back to 1987. Darius has always managed to stand out for having branching paths, as well as every enemy being a sort of mechanized fish. Darius Gaiden is the third arcade title in the series and the first game to use a single-screen display, with the former titles always utilizing two or three screens for a very wide playing field. It was also the first game to feature bombs and the ability to capture midbosses. Darius Gaiden is easily one of the shmups with the best visual and audio presentation out there. Everything just looks and sounds amazing. The gameplay is great too but the scoring is being held back a bit with the grey items giving you random score and all, which is unfortunate. The Darius Cozmic Collection is a compilation of various Darius titles ported by M2. M2 being the guys who also made the extremely good Shottriggers ports. This collection is basically a M2 Shottriggers release in everything but the name. M2 always makes the best ports and this one is no exception. So much love was put into this port and it really shows. The loading screen even says "game data is approaching fast" 10/10 port. This version is specifically a collection of arcade titles. This release has Darius 1, 2, Gaiden and several different versions of the first two. There is also a separate collection of several of the console Darius releases. This port added extra gadgets on the sides of the screen and many of them are actually really helpful. Healthbars, timers, as well as your current rank are now visible. You also get to see how many hits you have left on your shield. It even shows you the total amount of score you got from the grey items, which is just insanely cool. Besides that this port is also: Arcade perfect No input lag Replay support Leaderboards with downloadable replays Savestates for practice Multiple different autofire setups. If you pause, the game gives you a map of every route and even shows you it's respective bosses and the amount of powerups every stage has: Which is again, insanely cool. The only thing about this port I'd say I'm disappointed with is that Darius Gaiden Extra isn't on it. That game would have massively benefited from the widgets as well. Went with the ACEHLQV route this time. Stage C ,E and H are much harder than B, D and G, but they are a bit higher scoring.
