Cyberwar (PC) Playthrough- NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Interplay's 1994 interactive movie/FMV game for PCs running Dos, Cyberwar. Cyberwar is the direct sequel to 1993's The Lawnmower Man, a PC and Sega CD FMV game based on the Pierce Brosnan movie of the same name, that was in turn based on a Stephen King short story. Kind of. But not really. If you want to see the first game, you can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-1VW2E5rg0
Cyberwar is an incredibly obscure game. It got a (very) limited release run with virtually no press nor advertising, and it was the sequel to a critically reviled game based on a movie that had long since been forgotten by the end of 1994. It did, however, get a Japan-only Playstation port by Coconuts that was left completely in English. It's pretty much the same game as The Lawnmower Man was. I loved the original - it was super corny, ugly, and weird, and I was fascinated by it. I feel much the same about its license-deprived sequel. It's utter garbage, but I love it anyway. I could say much the same for others like Cyberia and Creature Shock. The gameplay consists of a handful of minigames that require solving simple puzzles, dodging things, or shooting at things. It's quite difficult with how little time you get to consider your moves, since many of these scenes require a fair amount of memorization and luck. Still, you get three saves per disc, so while death comes often, you do get some relief there. The graphics are all at once primitive, charming, embarrassing, and nostalgic. I don't know what it is about the style, but I dig its tackiness. And the T1000 turning into a butterfly/jetfighter (yeah, idk either) is pretty sweet and random. The music is great, with a good mix of FM and digital tracks that tow the cheese well. Games like these are really hard to peg down - the gameplay sucks, but the game is really entertaining. The graphics are creaky as my gran's dentures, but like the obscene and vulgar writhings of her teeth floating on her nightstand, the visuals in Cyberwar compel you to watch with an unflattering mixture of fascination and horror. I included some of the more fun death scenes and the game over scene at the end. I hope you enjoy this playthrough of The Not-Lawnmower Man 2: Cyberwar. It's an experience. _ No cheats were used during the recording of this video. NintendoComplete (
