Chapter 1: The War Begins! Old Vanbeige Road 1 & 2 - Tutorial Levels ----------- Check out the opening movies! ...and see the tutorial levels if you want. They are pretty slow, though, so you may be better skipping ahead to say: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiL2OlAWiNY
Here we learn about floors, basic adventurers, and how summoning monsters works. ---- Y'know those tower defense games? The ones where a lot of monsters/characters are running from point A to B and you've got to build towers and things to prevent them from getting there? No? Sure you have! One of the most popular ones is "Plants Vs. Zombies"! But see, this one here is LITERALLY a tower defense game! No, not like the older ones where you are using towers to defend a point... but because you are defending the TOWER, itself! That more than justifies a novelty purchase! Good thing the game stands up gameplay-wise, too. The way it works, is that you have a tower, and there are little adventurers coming by to take it down by destroying the Dark Crystal at the top. So's you gotta build floors to keep that crystal outta reach! And you can enlist monsters to guard each floor and impede progress! And each of those floors contains an artifact that aids the monsters in their dastardly deeds! Sounds simple, yeah? But it gets all kinds of complicated as time goes on. And there are little gameplay mechanics and elements you need to keep in mind. Like, a rock-paper-scissors type matchup (Melee is good against ranged, for example), and the speed of each adventurer and monster, and how long each adventurer will stay on a floor to attack, and who they will attack, and HOW they will attack, and status affects, and, and-! It gets complicated. Maybe you have this game? If you do, the strategies I use/show in these videos may help you out. If not... you can always get it on WiiWare! ...or you can just watch anyway~ I'll point out which videos are neat, and which are "skippable". (Mainly, last levels/side areas are neatest.) Oh. One last bit of information: I'm playing the "Vanilla" version. That means I'm only using what came with the purchase of the game. No downloadable content. For two reasons: I want to show that you can win without having to pay extra, and two, I'm cheap! [Pressing "A" Makes the next wave of adventurers come sooner. Use sparingly!]
