Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple [PS2] - play as Harou Niijima

This is a play-through using Harou Niijima in the PS2 game Shijyou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi: Gekitou! Ragnarok Hachikengou. Read on below for more information... Harou is one of the last hidden characters you can unlock in this game. This makes him an unlockable playable character. ===== About Harou ===== Japanese school student with an alien-like motif. Seems to be some kind of a comic relief character with hypnotic powers. Uses a ray weapon in one of his special moves. (I have no knowledge of this manga/anime series.) ==== About Kenichi: Gekitou! Ragnarok Hachikengou ==== The game is based on a Japanese manga/anime series of the same name (Shijyou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi). The story seems to be about a young school student in the name of Kenichi who trains in martial arts under the masters of Ryozanpaku in order to protect himself from bullies. As his martial arts improves, he becomes a target of a group called Ragnarok, who are a gang of bullies looking to recruit or defeat him. Design-wise, there is a Rival Schools/Project Justice vibe going on in this game, because the characters could easily be inserted into Project Justice and fit in. This is another example of old-school Capcom's expertise at turning a manga/anime/cartoon franchise into a fighting game. Even though this game is lesser known (possibly bordering on obscure) and nowhere near as famous as Jojos, RS and Tatsunoko, you simply cannot doubt the artistry and effort put into it. The gameplay is very heavily combo-based, and is all about stringing basics, specials and supers together. The game features an 8-way walk/run system (like Soul Calibur), so you cannot really "jump" or "crouch" in it. Another unique aspect is that when travelling forward, you cannot walk - instead you always run.
