Wheel of Fortune (PC) Playthrough [1st Ed., 1987]

A playthrough of ShareData's 1987 license-based game show game for Dos PCs, Wheel of Fortune. In this video, I played four full games. They were short and I wanted to try for all of the bonus round prizes. If you had access to a computer in the late 80s, you're probably familiar with the original Wheel of Fortune video game. I remember it being pretty much everywhere when I was in elementary school. A few of my friends' dads had it on their PCs, we had a few copies of the Apple II version in my school's computer lab, and my grandma had it on her C64. The game was created by a company called Softie. NES fans might know them from their work on Classic Concentration (
and Harlem Globetrotters (
, both released by GameTek. Wheel of Fortune is exactly what you'd expect from an old-school game adaptation of a game show. You can play against the computer or with up to two friends, and whoever has the most money banked after three rounds goes on to the bonus round for a chance to win the big prizes. There's not a lot to it, but it was always fun to throw in for a quick game. *APPLAUSE!! APPLAUSE!!* It feels a bit weird to play it nowadays without a noisy 5.25" floppy drive grinding away in the background between rounds, but the PC speaker music and the neon CGA graphics make for an entertainingly nostalgic look back at the state of PC gaming thirty-five years ago. How many of you guys played this one back in the day? _____________ No cheats were used during the recording of this video. NintendoComplete (
punches you in the face with in-depth reviews, screenshot archives, and music from classic 8-bit NES games!
