Miracle Warriors: Seal of the Dark Lord (Master System) - Casual Playthrough (Part 1)

Game: Miracle Warriors: Seal of the Dark Lord Platform: Sega Master System Completed: August 5, 2020 Rules: Beat the game Part: 1 of 3 I hadn't played this one in many years and had a good time revisiting it. It's unique in many ways, has a good soundtrack that somehow never gets old, and is simple yet engaging. It's a very grind heavy game and is unforgiving in some ways, but due to the fact that you can save anywhere a lot of that challenge is mitigated. One part that stands out to me is the art style which is fantastic. There are tons of very interesting enemies with equally interesting names. I think the enemy sprites were created by Rieko Kodama (also known as Phoenix Rie) but it isn't always apparent in these early Sega games. The game was released for multiple other systems before this but the Master System version is the only one I've played. When my father and I beat this one when I was a kid, our hero's name was "ZZZZ" for whatever reason. This playthrough keeps that tradition and immortalizes the amazing adventures of the curiously named ZZZZ. The Sega Master System had a different audio chip (The Yamaha YM2413) in some regions that produced higher quality "FM Sound". This chip was not included in the North American version of the Sega Master System, so what we were used to was the "PSG SN76489" chip that gave us the sound we know. Due to the wonders of emulation, in this three part series I demonstrate both styles of sound. The first video starts off with the North American PSG sound and then switches over to FM sound once the entire party is complete in the second video. This way you pretty much have the chance to hear all of the awesome tunes in this game in both formats, save the ending theme which is revisited with PSG sound in the video where I grind to max level and defeat the final boss again.
