Melty Blood: Act Cadenza [PS2] - play as White Len
This is a playthrough using White Len in the PS2 version of Melty Blood: Act Cadenza. Read on below for more information... White Len appears as mostly the penultimate and sometimes the end boss in the game. She is a non-selectable character. ===== STORY ===== White Len is a Succubus Familiar, and is a creation by Aoko Aozaki. After Warachia was defeated in the original Melty Blood, Aoko took his remains and used them to create a new form of life, which just happened to take on Len's (the original one) appearance. Along with this appearance, it also took on Len's suppressed personality, resulting in an "opposite" of Len whereby she is instead arrogant, outspoken, brash and loud. White Len possesses the combined powers of both the original Len and Warachia/TATARI: the former is of the ability of dream manipulation; and the latter is of the ability to create materialized beings from rumors. ===== GAMEPLAY ===== White Len is basically a more powerful and faster version of the regular Len... however there are a number of differences, both minor and significant, which include: ---- She has a unique Special Move where she creates running illusions of herself. The [B] version (where she attacks during the illusions) is one of her best moves. This replaces original Len's Teleport and Illusion moves, ---- In her Special and Supers which involve her Ice Shards, White Len's ones look different, are faster, cover more range and inflict more damage. Her air Super in particular inflicts massive damage (un-combo'd) if all of it connects unblocked... we're talking probably around 70%. ---- She has a unique Super Move where she produces a giant Icicle Spout. ---- She has a unique Special Move where she produces Ice Plants onto the ground. This replaces original Len's Special Move where she places the cats. ---- She has a unique Arc Drive where she summons multiple Mirror images of herself. This replaces original Len's multi-hitting/spell Orb. ---- Her dash/running is faster. ---- White Len does not have a Last Arc move. ---- She only has the one colour palette we see in the video. ===== INFORMATION ===== ---- All of her Basics, Specials and Super moves are perfectly accessible when human controlled. It could be speculated that she may have been originally planned to be an unlockable playable character. ---- When playing as her in single-player mode, she does not have any dialogue with any characters. ---- In single-player mode, her "end boss" seems to be Warachia, but there is no dialogue and therefore is unconfirmed. ---- In single-player mode her "mid-boss" may be Ciel, but there is no dialogue and therefore is unconfirmed. ---- She has some unique sprites/animation frames that are different to the original Len's ones. An example of this are her jumping sprites. ---- If you beat the game with her, the game will go to a dark screen and crash. ---- On the VS screen, her movelist commands are indicated by "???", which of course means that she is an unplayable character. ---- Her in-game Command List is blank. ---- She is also known as Shiroi Ren. ===== EXTRAS ===== ---- This version of Melty Blood Act Cadenza is unique in that it includes an option to revert to Version A mechanics, yet it introduced significant changes that were later included in Ver. B, one of these changes including an early version of Neco-Arc Chaos as a hidden character. Therefore it is sometimes known as "Ver. A2". ===== ABOUT MELTY BLOOD ===== Melty Blood started off as a doujin game on the PC which was released back in 2002... it was basically a spin-off game of the visual novel Tsukihime. Therefore obviously, the game contains characters and story elements from the novel. The game has evolved a lot since then, so much that the later games saw release on the Arcade and PS2 platforms. The latest version of the game is Melty Blood: Actress Again Current Code. The gameplay of Melty Blood is all about pure rushdown and chain combos... if you want to play this competitively then your reaction time and combo ability better be up to scratch.
