У XVIII столітті, серед просторів Поділля, жив рабин-мудрець, знаний під іменем Баал Шем Тов (Ізраїль бен Еліезер), який започаткував рух хасидизму — новий подих у духовному житті єврейської громади. Його вчення підкреслювало: радість перед Богом, щира молитва простого серця, і те, що кожна людська дія — навіть сміх — може стати дорогою до зустрічі з Божественним. Саме від цієї глибоко людяної та водночас містичної спадщини і виникла майса-нігун у мультфільмі: сміх як молитва, тиша, що перетворюється на світло, ранок, що пахне житом — символи простого життя, що несе в собі сакральні сенси: відчуття Б-жої присутності у буденному: у сміху, у запаху житнього поля, у ранковому світлі, у тиші після молитви. Ця анімаційна стрічка — про те, як просте «так» радості й довіри може змінити час і простір. PRAYER OVER THE SOUTHERN BUG – The Rabbi Who Laughed Toward Heaven* In the 18th century, amidst the wide fields of Podillia, lived a wise rabbi known as Baal Shem Tov (Israel ben Eliezer), the founder of Hasidism — a new breath in the spiritual life of the Jewish community. His teachings emphasized joy before God, the sincere prayer of a simple heart, and the belief that every human act — even laughter — can become a path to encounter the Divine. From this deeply humane and at the same time mystical heritage arose the maise-nigun depicted in the animated short: laughter as prayer, silence that turns into light, morning scented with rye — symbols of simple life carrying sacred meanings: the awareness of God’s presence in the everyday — in laughter, in the smell of a rye field, in morning light, in the silence after prayer. This animated film is about how a simple “yes” to joy and trust can change both time and space. About how a person who has heard in their heart the call to love can become a vessel through which even silence becomes light. (In Ukrainian.
