MechWarrior 3 is the third instalment in the MechWarrior franchise, released in 1999 for Windows. This time, Inner Sphere forces are finally taking the fight to them Clanners. If you thought MechWarrior 2 was good, MechWarrior 3 takes the series to a new height. Game-play is largely similar to its predecessor, with more emphasis on battlefield salvage. The much improved user interface makes navigation and mech building a more pleasant experience. Mechs move and handle like the way it should, most of the time; the recoil from firing ballistic weapons and knockback when receiving impactful hits; all these help immersion into the game. I felt like I was actually piloting a mech especially when using joystick controls. The downside? Getting this game to work on a modern PC is a nightmare. And unless you have the original CD, there won't be soundtrack in game. While they are not too spectacular as those in MechWarrior 2, having none at all loses some atmosphere.
