Space Mouse 35th Anniversary edition (Steam)

Mindware have been releasing updated versions of Japanese microcomputer games on Steam for a while now. This is perhaps the best of their releases so far. Space Mouse was written by Takanari Suzuki and published as a type-in game in 1981 for the PC-8001, a hugely popular microcomputer from NEC in Japan at the time. This updated version has a few arranged versions, including one in the style of the NES and another in the style of the MZ-700 (00:06:21), a model of the Sharp MZ series of microcomputers. The original PC-8001 version (00:09:07) is included. This game is more complex than first impressions may yield. Using only left, right and up keys, it is challenging and addictive and a fine example of how much fun (and frustrating at times) early microcomputer games could be. The game can be purchased here:
