За "Старчевата", Разлог Преди да разкажем за този древен, разложки празник, нека обърнем внимание на по-дълбокото значение на думата "празник". "Празник" е период, в който липсват пространство и време, и хората осъществяват по-дълбока връзка с божествените сили. В своето единство празниците и техните ритуали формират разказ, чрез който ни се показват представите на нашите предци за устройството на Вселената: Долен, отвъден свят, обитаван от демонични сили, като "караконджули": Среден, човешки свят, обитаван от хората; Горен, небесен свят, в който живеят небесните сили - Бога. Според вярванията, в края на годината, когато е най-късият ден и най-дългата нощ, нашият дом, Земята, отслабва и пада преградата между човешкия свят и долния, отвъдния свят. Настъпва времето на хаоса, на "караконджуровите вечери". За да бранят от злото, старите разложани организират своите дружини от млади, неженени мъже, воини-пазители, популярни днес с името "чауши". "Чауш" означава въоръжен пазач. Всяка година, всяка махала/маала, избира своя първи/пръв Чауш, който е главно действащо лице в този ритуал. В помощ на този процес силно и също основно участие имат "Небесната триада"-Старейшината, Първата мома и Първия ерген. Всички те, под звуците на звънци/звонци и местни ритми, сформират хоро. Улица след улица, започва обиколка с цел прогонване на злите сили, "караконджули" и пречистване на махалата и града. The festival is the culmination of the New Year holidays. Before we tell you more about that unique tradition, allow us to explain the meaning of the word “ festival” in a little bit more detail. “Festival” is a period in which space and time are absent, and people establish a deeper connection with the divine powers. In their unity, the festivals and their rituals form a narrative that shows us the ideas and believes of our ancestors regarding the design of our Universe. They were certain of the presence of three worlds: Lower – ulterior world, inhabited by demons, such as the so called “ Karakondzhuli”, Middle – human world, inhabited by people and Upper – heavenly world, inhabited by God. According to beliefs, at the end of the year, when the day is shortest and the night is longest, our home, the Earth, weakens and the barrier between the human world and the lower world, falls. The time of chaos, the "karakondzhur evenings" begins. To protect against evil demons, the elders gather their groups of young, unmarried men, warrior-guardians, called "Chaushi". “Chaush” means warrior- guardian. Every year, each neighborhood -”maala”, chooses its first “chaush”, who plays the main role in this ritual. Fundamental part in the ritual also take the so called "Heavenly Triad" - the Elder, the First Maiden and the First Bachelor. All of them, to the sounds of bells and local rhythms form a common dance. Holding hands, they all merge into one whole in a traditional dance called “horo”. Dancing “horo” around the streets, all participants of the ritual chase away the demons – “karakondzhuli”, with the sounds of bells and music, to purify the neighborhood and the town.
