Search & Rescue: Coastal Heroes • Interactive Vision (2002)

This one is pretty obscure flight sim. I picked it up in a bargain bin back in 2004 IIRC. It was also bundled as a cover CD with gaming magazines (at least here in Poland) back in the day. It's part of the running series called Search & Rescue (duh!) which first two installments (from 1997 and 2000) are even more obscure than this one. I don't know what happened with S&R3 since this one here was also known as S&R4. Though budget title it's pretty solid game. It features vast number of diversed misisons ranging from simple cargo deliveries/pickups, to dealing with emergencies across 10 different maps during day/night and differerent weather conditions (precipitation is modelled with working windshield wipers). Worth mentioning were volumetric clouds, which at the time loocked very convincing, most other flight sims still used those ugly billboarding single-sprite clouds for comparison. You get to fly 3 types of choppers - light MBB/Kawasaki BK-117 C-1, medium Aérospatiale HH-65 Dolphin, and heavy Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King (which you can land on water with gear up thanks to its floats). There are different hoist devices modelled which you can use to pick passangers, medics, swimmers, victims or cargo in hard to reach places. When you're able to land you can deploy stretcher team to deal with the injured. You are also equipped with slewable search light which comes in handy during night missions. The flight model was pretty realistic and demanding. There is hover hold mode which will help especially in windy conditions. You might even engage in aerial aerobatics with the lighter helos making your co-pilot heart attack even more likely. Mine retail version works fine on Windows 10 with only one issue - mouse cursor will be lagging in few screens in the menu - nothing gamebreaking. You can find game CD image here (manual included in that image in pdf format):
