Title: Xenon 2000 Multi Camera Tech Demo V0.10 By: Kevin Picone Last Updated: 18th,Mar,2004 Start Date: 22nd,Dec,2003 Language Used: Play Basic V1.75 - V1.84 (PRE RELEASE ALPHA) The following example attempts To show one of the a more advanced concepts regarding PlayBASIC's camera system. This system allows programmers To run more than one player at the same time. If look closely While the test is running, you'll notice that only gfx certain gfx appear in each view, EVEN though all the aliens / bullets are stored within the same arrays And share the same world space. This is possible, As the sprite And camera systems are designed To be class And camera aware. The sprite classes allow us To tag / find sprite collisions, between only certain types of sprites, EVEN though they all share the same world space. While collision classes take care of detecting impacts, we can also tag what sprites can be seen within cameras. So we can drive various games side by side, all from the one set of data. To expand this demo into a more elegant solution (it's pretty sloppy), you could store each games Data separately either in types Or arrays. You'd Then either manually pass the types To your subs/functions yourself Or, this can be done dynamically using pointer arrays.
