Intro (2:12) + gameplay (8:10). Interesting and not so well known RPG that looks quite nice at first sight if you can forgive rather crude dungeon graphics. I thought there was no videos of this game clearing the first dungeon, but after recording I noticed someone had played the first dungeon of PC version. Anyways this video shows the Amiga version, including intro which hasn't been posted into YT before (it seems) and also little bit more gameplay including annoying random encounters. What I don't like is that you have to spend lots of time beating up the early monsters. Attacking is quite cumbersome when you have to target a small box with mouse and move it from another box to the next. The PC version seems to have assigned keys on keyboard for that, but at least I couldn't find such keys while playing this on WinUAE. Also it would be cool if the fighters could actually hit something at the beginning, but most of the time they just swing air, especially when fighting flying monsters in random encounters. For the characters to gain levels you first have to find a town, pay to the guards and pay to a guy who promotes the characters to next level, supposing they have enough experience to gain a level. In the beginning the mage can kill few monsters quickly before he runs out of spell points. Then you might not be able to rest and regain spellpoints if you haven't run around enough and got tired first. Final insult however are the wandering monsters. Supposedly you could try to minimize encounters, but those can't be disabled. When such an encounter occurs, you must fight until ALL monsters have been slain. Sometimes the last monster is nowhere to be found as seen in this video in both encounters. In the first one I got the monster to appear when I finally could sleep. In the second encounter however the monster wouldn't appear even then. I stopped trying to play the game there. I didn't cut anything from these encounters so you can see what I'm talking about. Skip the first to (24:40) and the second to (35:58) straight for the death screen. Conclusion: Few simple flaws destroy it for me. These should be easy to see and fix after short playtesting. The PC version might work little better, but not sure since I haven't tried it. Developer: ArtGame Publisher: Electronic Zoo - Worldwide (1992)
