Sengoku Basara 2 HD - Yukimura Sanada | Story Mode
Yukimura is up next, and he gets kind of shafted by only having 5 stages. But he also has several unique stages, so I'd say it evens out. Yukimura has his same moveset and Basara form SB1, and they're still very effective albeit simple. His first skill is a wide sweeping attack that can be charged. Charge moves are such a waste in this game because no enemy will ever sit back and just let you do it. His second skill is a multi-thrust combo that ends in one big thrust. Very good for combing and getting more hits on the enemy, definitely his go-to skill. Third skill is Yukimura's launching attack, which can lead to mid-air attacks. Fourth skill is a slow attack, but hits hard and has good reach. Once upgraded, it can combo into 3 solid attacks, but it's not worth it until it's leveled. His fifth skill is a flaming punch that can be charged up. It's strong and breaks guards, but since it's a charge move, it's fucking terrible and should never be used. His sixth skill is a weird one. He jumps over the enemy and does a very weak attack, which you can increase the number of jumps with good timing. Not really worth the effort, honestly. By the way, I never unlocked the full moveset with any of these characters, so I won't talk about their final skills. Can't give my opinion on something I've never seen. Yukimura's 1st stage is a reverse Ueda battle against Ieyasu. It's unique and also the only time Ieyasu doesn't even attempt to call on Tadakatsu to help him out. Kind of cool. Nothing much to the stage however, we just fight through the stage in reverse from the normal version and fight Ieyasu at the end, who still has the generic spear moveset he did in SB1. Nothing threatening from him. 2nd stage is Masamune's again, which we already did as Keiji, so I've nothing more to add to this one. Though Masamune can be a tough fight, since he can activate WAR DANCE whenever the hell he wants, which means he can really rack up the damage on you if you don't interrupt him somehow. If you constantly beat him down and don't give him a chance, he's not too hard. 3rd stage is Nagashino, fighting the Oda forces. The bonus objective is to stop the supply troops running toward the Oda main camp. You'll have to mount a horse to do so and get past the barricades and musketeers to do so. You may as well give up if your horse dies along the way cuz you ain't catching them on foot. If the supply troops make it back, then Nobunaga will have more allies around him. We have to fight Noh and Ranmaru before we can reach Nobunaga. Noh and Ranmaru can both be challenging since they're fast and can attack from range. You want to close distance on them and be as aggressive as possible, particularly against Noh. Nobunaga himself is one of the harder enemies to fight in the game, as he has a good mid-air attack he likes to recover with if he's being juggled and he has an attack with his cape where he can deal a lot of hits all at once, which racks up the damage on you. He just has an all around good moveset and he tends to give me more trouble than most enemies in the game. 4th stage has us go against Keiji in Kyoto. Ah, a rumble in the capital! This is great! Keiji's battle is kind of a joke where you walk in on guys just partying. your own allies will also start to party, as they all dance while the music is going. During this time, all enemies will be OHKO'd. So you can get some kills pretty quickly if you're fast about it. I tried not attacking them to see if anything different happens and it doesn't, they still turn hostile, so you may as well take the officers down while they're vulnerable. The enemy peons also have abnormally high HP to compensate for them being OHKO'd at first, so it's just better all around to take them out quick and move on. Yukimura's final stage is a very unique battle against Ieyasu and Masamune. First we have to fight Tadakatsu, who is assaulting the Sanadamaru. You can actually use the cannons on the Sanadamaru to attack Tadakatsu...which I did not realize until he was already defeated. And you only play this stage once, so I never had the chance to try it later and see how effective it was. Oh well. You don't have to defeat Tadakatsu yourself either way, because if you waste enough time then he'll get taken out by the Sanadamaru in a cutscene. After that we have to take down Ieyasu, and finally have a showdown with Masamune.
