Well, I honestly went back and forth on this forever. I actually recorded this at the beginning of the summer but was super weary on whether uploading it was a good idea, as WOF episodes have been subject to copyright claims. But sometimes you just gotta throw a gamble into the pit. This is one of the many PC game adaptations of the famous game show. This version didn't really have a whole lot of decent gameplay videos...actually, heck, I think none of them were better than camcorder quality. So, I figured I'd go ahead and give this a shot. This version was developed and published in 2000, so as such it's very representative of several elements of that era (the gold puzzle board, W-H-E-E-L envelopes in the bonus round...). Only Vanna White and Charlie O' Donnell (RIP) appear in this installment, as Pat Sajak is absent here (apparently the reason for this is because his kids were still young and he didn't want to have to explain to them why he was appearing on the cover of a commercial product). I do have to say it's a little interesting to hear Vanna host the game for a change...the only thing that came close to that on the show was a bonus round where Pat was still recovering from laryngitis and switched roles. Right, the game itself! This is...honestly a pretty bad version of the game. The pacing is incredibly slow and the game has...quite a few pretty glaring bugs. And my word, the AI in this game is...something else entirely. Well, actually, no, they pick letters in a predetermined order every round. For instance, they always pick L first. Why!? That's the least common of the "common consonants"! They also wait a ridiculously long time before they solve the puzzle -- and because they're not rigged to pick letters that are more likely to appear after enough has been revealed, they end up throwing their turn more often than not. I think I've only seen the AI solve successfully one or two times. The AI in this game is so awful that it may very well just be nonexistent. I picked the Fast Cars theme for this game. I probably should have waited until I unlocked the "Great Outdoors" theme, but I didn't know how (I later figured out you can unlock it by modifying config files instead of...however the game has it set up). I recorded this long ago and can't remember how well I did, but I know I didn't pass the bonus round. Agh. What's more frustrating is that, at the time, I didn't know what the best letters to pick were (Now I know it's HGPO), and if I did, I would have solved it without even having to put anything in! Ah well, can't (literally) win it all the time, can you? Enjoy the gameplay! Wheel of Fortune is (C) Sony. I will respectfully take this video down by request.
