The Hurricane of the Varstray -Collateral Hazard - Advanced 1cc 257m

This is a pretty fun game. It's a light bullet-hell shmup that got released on Steam last month. It's centered more around scoring than 1ccing because the amount of lives you get makes not 1ccing nearly impossible. You pretty much just cruise through the stages mowing down enemies while managing your gauge which you activate to earn lots of score. The game has 2 gauges: "The Baryon Laser"(the blue bar) and the "Grabuster" (the orange bar). You fill up your Baryon Gauge by killing enemies and destroying little square shaped objects in the background of the game. After filling up the bar you activate it by pressing X, this gives you higher firepower/damage and range. Killing an enemy in this mode will make that enemy cancel it's bullets, and their bullets will turn into stars. Release the shot button during Baryon Gauge to auto-collect stars. The Baryon Gauge also works as a shield, if it's half-filled then it'll absorb any shot that hits you. Collecting stars while Baryon is activated will fill up your Grabuster gauge. After Baryon runs out Grabuster will be activated by default. While you're in Grabuster mode you become invincible for a certain amount of time and enemy values get multiplied while you're using it. What you're supposed to do is physically hit as many enemies as you can and camp on top of enemies with lots of HP. Grabuster also makes enemies cancel their bullets, the points gained from that also gets multiplied score-wise. There are also items scattered around the levels that fill up your gauges. So if you see an F-item and you grab it while you're in Grabuster mode, the item will fill up your gauge again which gives you extra time to flail around. There are also sub-weapon items lingering throughout the map. Practically every weapon except the regular laser is useful and very powerful. My advice is to grab the homing laser at the start, it's actually a really good sub-weapon. You can switch to your sub-weapon by pressing C, but you can only use the sub-weapon of which you've last grabbed an item of. The lives that this game gives you is ridiculous. There are 1-UP, 3-UP and 5-UP items collectable during a couple stages. It seems you also gain extends by scoring In this video I was playing in "Arcade mode", but there's also "Story mode". Story mode has these cutscenes between the areas with plot and story. At the start of every area there's some dialogue, every character has it's own dialogue and there's like 6 characters to choose from in total, so it was pretty fun seeing what goes through the minds of some of these characters. Also I'm absolutely loving the crazy-banter between some of the characters. This game allows you to unlock extra characters, extra sub-weapons and even a hidden "True end" if you beat Story mode multiple times with different characters. The true end is perhaps my favorite ending in any shmup. It was pretty intense, I like that. For some reason the audio in my recording started desyncing towards the end, so I had to manually try synchronizing the audio. I also took this opportunity to remove some black bars because this game is very slow on it's loading. Stage 01: 00:06 Boss: 01:38 Stage 02: 02:08 Boss: 03:39 Stage 03: 04:20 Boss: 05:51 Stage 04: 06:29 Boss: 08:00 Stage 05: 08:34 Boss: 10:05 Stage 06: 10:35 Boss: 12:07 Stage 07: 12:33 Boss: 14:04 Stage 08: 14:49 Boss: 16:20 Stage 09: 16:59 Boss: 18:30 Stage 10: 19:18 Boss: 20:50 Stage 11: 21:27 Boss: 22:57 Stage 12: 23:46 Boss: 25:23 TLB: 26:15 This game is criminally underrated and undersold right now. It makes me feel so bad seeing this happen to such a fun shmup. If you're looking for a cool light shmup to play then please consider buying it.
