May Day Portland Community Garden Walkthrough

Took a walk over to the community garden to keep a bed of carrots that we are germinating wet. The potatoes, onions, snap peas, snow peas, and broccoli are all doing well. Several other gardeners have added a greenhouse to their plot not sure if these are stimulus splurges, but this is the first time I have seen anyone have a greenhouse set up at the community garden and they are on three different plots. The tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, and beans, are all still to be planted or seeded, but our early crops are going well. Take advantage of your community garden resources if your city has a garden program. Portland, Oregon has a great garden program and we have enjoyed participating for several years.
