Hoyle Majestic Chess (2003) Speedrun --

Thanks for watching! This was quite a fun experiment for me as my second-ever foray into speedrunning. I love this game with my whole heart, not that you can tell given how much I seem to grumble about being bested by the computer. I have loved it since I was a kid, and it's a rare game that I can play from start to finish and then want to just replay all over again. As I mentioned somewhere in this run, my first speedrun attempt was with Dark Souls II, and I never managed to complete or upload a run of that, so in some ways uploading this is fulfilling a dream years and years in the making of making my debut in the speedrunning community. It isn't as perfect as I might have imagined (e.g. in that I ended up just recording in full screen mode, which let you see my antivirus software popups) but if I waited for perfection I would never actually get to the point of uploading. And apologies that I get less talkative as I go, I start out with plenty of things that I want to tell the viewer, but somewhere around Chapter 5 I start just muttering to myself quietly. I'm also proud to highlight here that I beat the final boss of the game on my first try in this run, which doesn't usually happen (albeit with some of the in-game artifacts for help). I hope to keep working down my time until I can submit a sub 2 hour run, which should be possible based on my best segment times, and if I can, I'd like to also work on an artifactless run, as a purist. I thought about linking my chess.com username here, in case somebody stumbles across this video and wants to play me, but it's actually a username I use for many accounts, and I want to keep this Youtube channel pretty unidentifiable for privacy reasons. If you want to play, comment on this video and I'll message you! Lastly, I have tentatively put the words "World Record" in the title of this video. This is purely to stroke my own ego, as I don't think anybody else been silly enough to attempt to speedrun this decades-old medieval fantasy chess game, but if I'm mistaken and somebody else out there has done it faster, please let me know! I'll link to your video here. The only other person I've seen play through the whole game is Youtuber Dom AZ, so you can check out their videos for a fuller walkthrough if your own curiosity or nostalgia compels you to watch all those tutorials I skip in the run. EDIT: Nope, just kidding! I took the words "World Record" out, because I beat my own record. You can find that video through my channel.
