Playlist: • Playthrough: "Casanova: The Duel of the Bl... This game is quite unknown, even in the adventure-community. Still, it was one of Arxel Tribe's more ambitious titles. It was their first effort in 3D and the gameworld they created was quite impressive in its scope and non-linearity. Pity its story is too boring, at least to me. It's also one of those games that doesn't know what to be; adventure or action-game. The result is a bad mix. Platform-sequences are a disaster to get through. Arxel Tribe must have felt the same way, because all of them can be skipped after a few futile attemps... So what's left? The witty dialogue, the fun of exploring a colorfull twisted Venice and seducing its women in it. And that's about it I'm afraid. It just feels too unpolished to be anything more than that... But even games like this deserve some digital space. This is the channel for "Twilight Adventures" after all... === LIST OF HOTKEYS (which are not mentioned in the Manual, only in the Readme-file on CD 1) F2 = Inventory F1 = Main Menu F6 = Quick Save F9 = Quick Load And...(not a joke) the "Anti-Stuck Keys" as Arxel Tribe called it: If stuck and cannot move press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER. === TECHNICAL NOTES In short: I couldn't find a stable system which plays this game from start to finish. I played this game almost totally on a Windows 10 system with an Integrated Videocard. My NVIDIA-card didn't like the laser in Casanova's crossbow. It wasn't shown. The last few minutes, when Casanova & Co. enter the big ship, the game crashed. Had to copy my savegames to VirtualBox with Windows XP on it and finish it there. In Windows XP (run in VirtualBox), the game also crashed when Gaetano throws bottles at you. To avoid sound-glitches: install the game in Windows 95 compatibility-mode. After that, run the game in Windows 95 compatibility-mode. Couldn't get the water-effects working by using the config.exe file. I had to adjust the file "video.cfg" manually on my harddrive, by changing the '0' into a '1' after "EFFECTS WATER." Saved it as a different file and replaced the original file with it. Way back, a patch was released, but the developer back then said it was not necessary to install it for the English version. I still tried to install it, but failed. © Arxel Tribe / Wanadoo Edition
