Mega Drive Longplay [283] Virtua Racing

Played by: Mad-Matt Sega Genesis port of the Arcade original utilizing the then very expensive Sega SVP processor to rivel what Nintendo was putting out with its SuperFX processor. Its unfortunate it was the only game to use it but when it was pushing the cartridge prices to $100 / £70 so you can kind of see why. Sega was moving onto Sega 32x for the heavy processing as well at this time. While being a good port to the Mega-Drive its unfortunate that its not a particularly great game. 1 car, three tracks and very hard to beat. The controls suck and you have to be pretty much frame accurate when taking corners if you want the car to drift round the tightest bends. The framerate can be a bit jarring at times as well. It took many many retries to get this video made and Hard difficulty beaten for the credit roll. You really do have to put in the perfect lap as the front 3 ai cars are relentless and dont mess up and not just going to hand over the win, so no mistakes allowed, at least on hard. I have tried to show all of the game to make it more than a 20 minute video. 00:00:00 - Virtua Racing, all 3 tracks played on Normal, gold trophy earned on each. Unlocks mirror mode. Replays shown for all 3 tracks. 00:26:20 - Mirror Mode played on Normal. These dont seem to count towards anything, no reward for winning. No replays. 00:38:57 - Track 1 played on Hard. I'm gonna make you wait for the final credit roll with a replay Grin - Disclaimer: Most videos by World of Longplays use SaveStates!
