Voodoo Castle [TRS-80 Model I] Scott Adams Grand Adventure #4 - Full Solution

Voodoo Castle [TRS-80 Model I] Scott Adams Grand Adventure #4 - Full Solution Voodoo Castle was an Interactive Fiction Text Adventure (IFTA) originally distributed on a 16k cassette for the TRS-80 Model I/III microcomputer series in 1979. Later it was ported around 1980 to the TRS-80 Color Computer series. For this Let's Play, I have ripped the program off of cassette using OFFSET/CMD which was created for use with NEWDOS80, and dumped it to floppy disk. I have done this because I prefer prefer disk over cassette for increased data access speeds. It is the fourth IFTA game made by Scott Adams, published by Adventure International. Though it has Scott's name on the package, it was actually written by his wife Alexis. It was played in a pure text environment, the player inputting text command actions in a two word string using VERB-NOUN, with a primitive parser deciding what happened, and then describing the results to the player in text on screen. In many ways it was like playing a Pen & Paper RPG, such as AD&D, or even a Choose Your Own Adventure Novel. One of the greatest keys to solving a text adventure was a well drawn map. Often, in fact almost always, a good map with proper notations is all that stood between success and failure. Due to my use of a map, and decisions of how to present the game, this may not be a complete example of the game world that was available to the player, as many dead ends may exist, and my goal was to illustrate playing through the game efficiently. This game is not technically a successor to Adventureland, or any other IFTA, Scott Adams or otherwise. It shares no commonalities other than interface, and input-output parser systems. In Voodoo Castle, the player is tasked to cancel a Voodoo Curse that has plagued Count Cristo. The interface quickly explains the base objective of the game, how to interact with the player's avatar, and then sets you loose to explore. In this game, the player explores, looking for clues which help them determine what actions they must take to lift the curse. They do this while solving some simple puzzles, and making connections between events, sometimes out of thin air. In this play through, I walk you through all the important parts of the game. This includes all 24 of the rooms you must explore, all the items you must get, and all the puzzles you must solve. As far as run-styles go, this one is a little bloated, with some extra actions taken for no reason other than to illustrate some features a player can encounter. Once more, I have used a TRS-80 Model I. In order to create this I used emulation technology. Though, in the past I had owned the machines this game were released on, they have long since been lost or broken. Please forgive how rough this is. This is a still learning process.
