Manufacturer: Carl Zeiss Jena, Eisfeld (Germany) Application: Civil Era: 1980s Magnification: 8x Objective Lens Size: 30mm Field of View: 8.5° - 150m at 1000m Specifics: The DELTRINTEM/DELTRENTIS binoculars were produced from 1919 until 1994 and have been manufactured in different variations over the decades. This also included the JENOPTEM 8x30 models, which are identical to the DELTRINTEM models. These binoculars are very well suited and should be absolutely sufficient for most leisure activities. In addition, they can even be dismantled and cleaned, which with modern binoculars is only possible through specialist workshops and usually only within the warranty period. Thus, these are absolutely sustainable and long-lasting binoculars. The fact that these binoculars have been in production for more than 7 decades speaks for itself. Personally, I am not aware of any binoculars that have been in production for such a long period of time. The design of the DELTRENTIS was even adopted for military use in some countries. So one can speak of a real and timeless classic. Furthermore these binoculars have a relatively large field of view (FOV) of 8.5° - 150m at 1000m. Only very few modern binoculars have such a large field of view. This is also due to the fact that a large field of view always leads to problems with edge sharpness. For this reason, even today's top manufacturers hardly dare to produce (real) wide-angle binoculars. Even if there are binoculars with a much wider field of view, the DELTRINTEM/DELTRENTIS binoculars represent a certain reference for wide-angle binoculars against which other models can be measured. In this respect, these binoculars can certainly be described as an entry into the world of wide-angle binoculars.
